About Thornton

Thornton is a vibrant, diverse community committed to the quality of life and preserving the environment. Thornton’s location in Colorado’s Denver metro area ranks consistently as one of the most desirable areas to live. The community is located 10 miles north of downtown Denver on Interstate 25 and offers excellent visibility for businesses and convenient access to various transportation routes.

Due to its high home values, low unemployment rate, and high median household income, Thornton was ranked fifth among the Top 5 Most Livable Mid-Sized Cities of 2019, according to SmartAsset.

During the 1950s, this area was farmland; now, Thornton has aggressively pursued recreation programs with nearly 1,000 acres of land developed or designated as parks. Recreational opportunities abound on the many lighted tennis courts, athletic fields, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gymnasiums, and recreation centers. Thornton has 25 parks, golf courses, and a premium outlet mall. You can play disc golf at the Springvale Park Disc Golf Course, play golf at Todd Creek Golf Club and visit Carpenter Recreation Center, all of which offer scenic views of the Rocky Mountains.

Numerous smaller colleges and universities are also located within a 45-mile radius of the community. The larger institutions include the Universities of Colorado at Boulder and Denver, University of Denver, Metropolitan State College, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University, Colorado School of Mines, Regis University, and Colorado Christian University. The large Thornton community is served primarily by two school districts, including four high schools, five middle schools, and fourteen elementary schools.

The town hosts numerous events throughout the year, such as Thorntonfest, which happens in May and includes a battle of the bands, car show, climbing wall, carnival rides, and a “paw fest” for animal lovers. Taking place every September, Harvestfest features a cultural bazaar, fishing derby, rollerblading and skateboarding competitions, among other events. In December, the city holds its Winterfest, which includes a Santa Village, an ice skating rink, a tree decorating competition, and fireworks.

The Thornton area provides a perfect setting for business, recreation, residences, and the next place for you to call home. If you are ready to make the move to Thornton Tristan The Denver Real Estate Agent can help you find your next home.
